The raw oil used in Origina® is from a specific chemotype of Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum. This chemotype was developed throughout many years of research by a group of researchers from the University of Aristotle, Greece, and is a blending from four different plants which produces a higher and more consistent quality of pure oregano oil.

There are many imitators, but there’s only one Origina®. Origina® from Nord-Farm is a patented product processed under the strictest of conditions to ensure purity and quality. Imitators may be derived from petroleum and contain dioxin, a suspected carcinogen. The oregano used in Nord-Farms’s Origina® is grown naturally in Greece, and the essentials oils are extracted using a steam process that guarantees purity.Essential oil of oregano has two major components: carvacrol and thymol. Many imitators of Origina® contain more thymol and less carvacrol. Origina® contains at least 84 percent carvacrol, and the ratio of carvacrol to thymol ensures a synergistic effect that boosts effectiveness. There are also 34 other chemical compounds in oregano essential oil that also have a synergistic effect.Also, there are 40 varieties of oregano worldwide, but the most beneficial comes from Greece.

Dr. Tsinas is a native of Greece. He holds a Ph.D. in Swine Health and Management and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Tsinas has a long experience as a researcher, swine practitioner and consultant of different pharmaceutical companies in Europe. He was engaged in the development of the Origina® line of products from the very early stages, and he is currently the technical director of Ecopharm Hellas S.A. of Greece. He has published 39 papers and articles worldwide on essential oil extraction.
